ADI laboratory circuit: the stability of the closed loop automatic power control circuit

    Circuit described in this article use a VGA (ADL5330) and a logarithmic detector (AD8318) provides closed-loop automatic power control. Because of AD8318 has the high temperature stability and the AD8318 RF receiver ensures ADL5330 VGA output has the same level of temperature stability, so the circuit can keep stable in the whole temperature range. The circuit also increased the logarithmic amplifier detector, is used to ADL5330 transfer from variable gain amplifier open loop to closed-loop output power control circuit. AD8318 like ADL5330, with linear transfer function of the dB, so also follow a linear transfer function of P to the set point dB features.
